Seven days, five years, and a lifetime. This is what it has taken for singer/songwriter Lisa Witty to complete her first album Color Me In, a varietal collection of songs from her beginning days as a writer to more recent work. If you were to try and figure out which songs came first, it may be difficult. Her subject matter could have occurred at any point along her journey. Ranging from a more introspective place to just wanting to let go, her melodic songs appeal to many, no matter what age.

Lisa was raised in a large, creative family in a picturesque small town in Northern Michigan...the perfect elements to breed a dreamer. Since a very young age, she knew music was what she was born to do. She carried it around with her waiting for the right place and time to reveal this passion.

Very involved in ski racing in high school, Lisa continued her sport while attending the University of Michigan where she graduated with an American Culture degree. Wanting to contiune her skiing, whe moved to Vail, Colorado where she became a ski instructor and coach.

All along carrying her dream, Witty began singing at open mic nights with a friend on the piano. The feeling of performing was exhilarating and she wanted more than singing the songs of other writers. At the urge of a singer/songwriter friend, she picked up the guitar. Feeling she could not focus in the ski town, she left to go live with her father in North Carolina in the summer of 1997. There she taught herself guitar and began to write her own songs. Not long after, she moved back to Colorado continuing her writing and performing in the Denver/Boulder area as well as in the mountain towns.

In the spring of 2002, all the pieces seemed to fall into place and she recorded her first full-length album. Lisa worked with musician/producer Loren Ellis - whom she knew through the songwriter circuit - on realizing the album. With nothing to lose but sleep, she flew to Los Angeles for a marathon seven-day recording session. Witty returned with an album.

Lisa Witty has opened for Hollywoord Records recording artist Sheila Nichols as well as former Elektra group Dakota Moon. Along with having performed at Colorado Rockies baseball games, Witty has been touring the Southwest in support of her new album Color Me In.
